Commercial Photography: Client Guide & FAQ
Whether you are booking a single headshot session or a week-long industrial documentation project, I aim to make the process as seamless as possible.
This guide answers common questions regarding logistics, safety, and technical requirements for projects in London, Kent, and beyond.
Planning & Pre-Production
How do we begin the planning process?
Every project starts with a detailed brief. I offer pre-shoot consultations via Zoom or phone to discuss your goals and aesthetic requirements.
Where applicable, I conduct site visits to assess lighting, site logistics, and health and safety requirements, ensuring we create a comprehensive "shot list" well in advance of the shoot day.
Can you match our existing brand guidelines?
Yes. I understand the importance of visual consistency for national brands.
Whether it is matching specific lighting styles, compositions, or providing a particular background for corporate headshots, I ensure your new visual assets sit seamlessly alongside your existing company imagery.
On-Site Execution & Safety
Can we view the images during the shoot?
Absolutely. For technical, interior, or product assignments, I offer tethered shooting. This involves connecting the camera body directly to a laptop or tablet on-site, allowing you or your Art Director to review and approve imagery in real-time. This ensures every detail of the technical brief is met before we leave the site.
What is your policy on bad weather?
For location and drone work, I operate a three-day diarised booking system. For every scheduled shoot day, I keep the following two days as backup options. If weather conditions are unsuitable or unsafe, the shoot defaults to the next available day in that window, providing security and minimising delays to your project timeline.
Are you equipped for high-risk or sensitive sites?
Yes. I am fully insured with Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance. I hold CAA drone accreditation, and I provide my own full PPE (High-viz, safety boots, hard hat, and eye protection). I am experienced in following strict safety inductions on construction sites and contamination protocols in laboratory environments.
Logistics & Travel
Where are you based and how far do you travel?
I am based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, perfectly situated to serve clients across London and the South East. However, I frequently travel nationally and internationally for large-scale projects that require a specialised technical eye.
What are your travel rates?
For local shoots in Kent and London, travel is often included. For national or international assignments, travel and accommodation are quoted transparently as part of the project fee.
What is your turnaround time for images?
My standard delivery for high-resolution, edited images is 5–7 working days, delivered via a secure digital gallery. However, for time-sensitive PR or social media requirements, I offer a 24-hour rapid turnaround service (or sooner) by prior arrangement.
What about image usage rights?
Most commercial assignments include a standard license for web, social media, and internal marketing use. For high-end advertising or national campaigns requiring broader usage rights, I provide clear, transparent licensing terms upfront.
Safety, Insurance & Protocols
Are you insured for industrial and construction sites?
Yes. I am fully insured with Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance specifically tailored for commercial and industrial photography.
Do you provide your own PPE?
Absolutely. I own and maintain my own high-visibility gear, safety boots, hard hat, and eye protection. I am experienced in following site-specific Health & Safety inductions on construction sites and factory floors.
Do you have experience in cleanrooms or labs?
Yes. I understand the sensitivity of laboratory environments. I follow all gowning and contamination protocols to ensure that high-quality imagery is captured without compromising the integrity of your research or production.
Deliverables & Rights
How and when do I receive my images?
Images are typically delivered via a secure, digital gallery in high-resolution within 5–7 working days of the shoot.
Expedited delivery can be arranged for time-sensitive projects.
What about image usage rights and royalties?
Most commercial assignments include a standard license for web, social media, and internal marketing use. For "Hero" jobs or high-end advertising that requires broader usage or royalty-based licensing, I provide clear, upfront terms to ensure your brand is fully protected.
